Prepare

Remove only the required cuvettes from the vial and close the lid immediately to protect remaining cuvettes from moisture.

Collect sample

  • Prepare the blood sample according to standard clinical procedure.
  • For capillary sampling, wipe away the first two drops before collecting.

Fill

Touch the cuvette opening to the blood sample and allow it to fill completely in one continuous motion using capillary action.

Clean

Wipe excess blood from the outside of the cuvette using a lint-free tissue, without touching the opening.

Analyze

Insert the filled cuvette into the compatible HemoCue Hb 301 Analyzer and wait approximately three seconds for the hemoglobin result.

Dispose

Discard the used microcuvette immediately as clinical biohazard waste according to your facility's infection control procedures.
