Product Information

The APEX ULTRA is a fully computerized, 27-program dual-frequency therapeutic ultrasound unit, operating at both 1 MHz and 3 MHz through two dedicated transducer probes. Its defining feature is the pre-loaded library of 27 clinical treatment programs, each automatically configuring frequency, output mode, pulse ratio, intensity, and timer for a specific musculoskeletal condition — eliminating manual parameter selection and ensuring consistent, protocol-driven treatment delivery.

The device features a blue backlit LCD/LED display and five dedicated push-buttons (PROG/MODE, TIMER, INTENSITY, PULSE, S/S), alongside a 1/3MHz frequency toggle and a power button. Its square white/silver ABS enclosure with a professional black control panel and circuit-schematic graphic reflects Strive Enterprises' design philosophy of 'Simplifying Healthcare Globally'. The unit supports both automated program-driven sessions and fully manual parameter-controlled treatments.

How to Use

Setup

  1. Place the APEX ULTRA-103 on a stable, flat surface. Ensure ventilation areas are unobstructed.
  2. Connect the 1 MHz probe to the left side-panel port and the 3 MHz probe to the right side-panel port.
  3. Plug the AC power cable into a properly earthed mains outlet.
  4. Press the Power button — the LCD display illuminates and the unit performs a self-check. Confirm no error is shown.

Patient Assessment & Preparation

  1. Confirm the clinical diagnosis and screen for all contraindications before proceeding.
  2. Position the patient comfortably with the target area exposed and accessible.
  3. Inspect skin integrity — do not treat over broken, infected, or compromised skin.
  4. Apply a generous amount of therapeutic ultrasound coupling gel to the treatment area or transducer face.

Option A — Using a Pre-Set Program (Recommended)

  1. Press PROG/MODE to cycle through the 27 programs. The LCD will show the program number and condition name or code.
  2. Select the program matching the patient's condition. The unit auto-loads: frequency, mode, pulse ratio, intensity, and timer.
  3. Press 1/3MHz to confirm the correct probe is active (the program may auto-select this).
  4. Review all parameters on the LCD display. Adjust intensity via INTENSITY button if clinically needed.
  5. Press S/S to start treatment. Move the probe continuously in slow circular/stroking motions — never hold stationary.
  6. The LCD timer counts down. The unit alerts and stops automatically at session end.

Option B — Manual Parameter Control

  1. Press 1/3MHz to select the desired frequency (confirmed on LCD).
  2. Press PULSE to select Continuous or Pulsed mode. Press repeatedly to cycle pulse ratios.
  3. Press TIMER to set treatment duration (5–10 minutes per area).
  4. Press INTENSITY to step up to the desired W/cm² level (start at 0.5 W/cm²).
  5. Press S/S to start. Apply gel, move probe continuously throughout treatment.

During Treatment

  1. Keep the transducer moving at all times — continuous slow circular or longitudinal strokes.
  2. Maintain firm, consistent skin contact throughout to ensure acoustic coupling.
  3. Monitor the patient continuously. Reduce intensity or stop if the patient reports pain, burning, or unusual heat.

End of Treatment

  1. Press S/S to stop, or allow the timer to complete naturally.
  2. Reduce intensity to zero before removing the probe from the patient.
  3. Power off via the Power button.
  4. Remove coupling gel from the patient's skin. Clean the transducer faces with an approved disinfectant wipe.
  5. Document program used, frequency, mode, intensity, and duration in the patient's clinical record.

Safety Instructions

  1. This device must only be operated by a qualified physiotherapist or trained healthcare professional.
  2. Inspect the device, probes, cables, and ports before every session. Do not use if damage is present.
  3. Always apply coupling gel before activating output. Never run the probe without gel — this damages the crystal and can burn the patient.
  4. Always keep the probe moving during active output — a stationary probe causes periosteal burns and localised overheating.
  5. Do not operate the probe in air at therapeutic intensity levels.
  6. Never leave the patient unattended during any active treatment session.
  7. Stop immediately if the patient reports burning, unusual pain, or discomfort.
  8. Keep the device away from liquids, flammable substances, and direct heat.
  9. Do not open, modify, or attempt self-repair. Contact Strive Enterprises or an authorised service agent.

Precautions

  1. Always perform a skin sensation check in the treatment area before commencing.
  2. When using preset programs, always verify on-screen parameters before pressing S/S — confirm the loaded program is appropriate for the patient.
  3. Use pulsed mode (low duty cycle) for all acute-phase injuries to minimise thermal effects.
  4. Reduce intensity near bony prominences and areas with minimal soft tissue coverage.
  5. Elderly and vascular-compromised patients are more thermally sensitive — begin at lower intensities.
  6. Use only approved ultrasound coupling gel. Do not substitute with ordinary lotions or non-rated gels.
  7. Disinfect probe faces between every patient using a validated non-alcohol medical disinfectant wipe.

Maintenance

  1. Wipe the device exterior and LCD panel area with a soft dry or lightly damp lint-free cloth. Do not apply liquid directly to the LCD screen.
  2. Disinfect transducer faces after every patient using a validated medical-grade disinfectant wipe (non-alcohol preferred).
  3. Inspect probe cables routinely for kinks, cuts, or exposed wire. Replace immediately if damage is found.
  4. Store probe cables in loose coils — never tightly wound — to preserve conductor integrity.
  5. Store the unit in a clean, dry environment, away from direct sunlight, excessive humidity, and temperature extremes.
  6. Schedule annual calibration and performance verification by a qualified biomedical engineer
